About Southampton Ki Aikido
Southampton Ki Aikido is an official branch of the Ki Society, Japan, and is officially recognised by the UK Ki Federation. The school teaches Ki Aikido based on the principles of Master Koichi Tohei and Shin Shin Toitsu Aikido, offering classes in martial arts training, self-defence, and meditation for both children and adults.
Ki Aikido is the application of Ki principles to martial art training, integrating physical technique with mental and spiritual development. Students learn the spiritual aspects of Aikido, including mind and body unification, alongside practical self-defence skills. Classes combine traditional martial arts instruction with complementary practices such as meditation, breathing exercises, and relaxation techniques, creating a holistic approach to training.
The school welcomes children from age five upwards, with dedicated classes during school term time, as well as adult classes for those seeking to develop their martial arts practice and wellbeing.
