About Sonia Freeman
Sonia Freeman is a qualified Psychodynamic Counsellor offering counselling and psychotherapy to individuals and couples. She works with a range of difficulties including anxiety, depression, loss, bereavement, panic attacks, relationship challenges, stress, sexuality and identity issues.
Sonia offers both long-term open-ended therapy and focused short-term work over 12 to 24 weeks, tailored to your needs. Her psychodynamic approach pays attention to underlying, unconscious processes and emotional responses to both past and present behaviours.
For couples, Sonia incorporates elements of Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), a structured approach based on attachment theory developed by Sue Johnson. She has also undertaken training in psychosexual studies at the Tavistock Relationships in London, enabling her to work with individuals and couples on sexuality and relationship concerns.
Sonia is open to introducing art and phototherapy into her work, recognising that the use of photographs and creative expression can be particularly helpful for those who find it difficult to express their emotions through words alone.
