Training covers the core elements of Shotokan karate: Kihon (the fundamental basics and building blocks), Kata (forms that enhance precision, coordination, and understanding), and Kumite (controlled sparring with an opponent). Members progress through grading levels, completing several gradings at Kyu (Colour Belt) levels and later at Dan (Black Belt), marking their development and mastery.

The club's Chief Instructor holds 7th dan accreditation with the Japan Karate Association World Federation (JTKI), ensuring instruction meets the highest standards of traditional karate practice. Beyond physical technique, the club emphasises the values and discipline central to karate training, reflected in the Dojo Kun—the fundamental rules that guide practice.
