About Mothers Matter

Mothers Matter is a perinatal mental health project offering free counselling and psychotherapy for families navigating pregnancy, birth, and early parenthood. Registered with both the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and the National Counselling & Psychotherapy Society (NCPS), the service provides compassionate, accessible support during prenatal and postnatal experiences.

Beyond one-to-one counselling sessions, Mothers Matter runs Wellbeing Hubs where new parents can connect with others and access peer support in a welcoming community setting. The service also offers mental health awareness workshops, empowerment groups, and drop-in sessions. If attending in person isn't possible, the team will visit you at home, removing barriers to getting help when you need it most.

Whether you're struggling with prenatal or postnatal depression, navigating baby loss, or supporting a partner through their own mental health challenges, Mothers Matter provides holistic, family-centred care. The service recognises that perinatal mental health affects the whole family and tailors support accordingly. This is mental health care designed around your life, not the other way around.
