Michael J Rivers is an accredited psychotherapist and counsellor specialising in trauma-informed care. A member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (MBACP) and an EMDR Europe Accredited Practitioner, Michael brings extensive expertise in evidence-based therapeutic approaches.
Michael offers general counselling sessions alongside specialist EMDR Therapy, a recognised approach to working through the unresolved symptoms of trauma. He combines counselling and psychotherapy with EMDR when appropriate, tailoring treatment to each client's needs. His services include a dedicated PTSD Treatment Programme for those recovering from traumatic events, as well as anxiety therapy addressing health anxiety, generalised anxiety, panic attacks and anger management. He also provides depression therapy for low mood, loneliness, low self-esteem and work-related stress, alongside bereavement counselling for those navigating loss.
Michael's additional areas of support include help with addictions—alcohol, narcotics, gambling and smoking cessation—as well as counselling for domestic violence and emotional or psychological abuse.
