About Exeter Martial Arts
Exeter Martial Arts offers a comprehensive range of disciplines under one roof, from traditional martial arts and combat sports to movement and fitness classes. Whether you're seeking self-defence, fitness, or a structured class for all ages, the studio brings together Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ), MMA training, kickboxing, traditional jiu jitsu, and yoga alongside strength training and personal coaching.
The BJJ programme is led by Dr Richard Catterick, Chief Instructor and 7th Dan with BJJAGB accreditation, bringing depth and credibility to ground-fighting instruction where technique and leverage are emphasised over strength. Alongside combat disciplines, Exeter Martial Arts teaches slower, flowing practices including Tai Chi and Qi Gong for balance, relaxation and internal strength, welcoming all ages and abilities.
One-to-one martial arts coaching is available for those seeking focused, personalised instruction. The studio also runs dedicated women's classes, including women's kickboxing taught in a dedicated women-only setting. With both group classes and individual sessions on offer, Exeter Martial Arts serves anyone looking to build fitness, learn practical skills, or explore martial arts in a supportive environment.
