About Emma Johnston Counselling
Emma Johnston Counselling offers friendly, approachable and compassionate counselling and psychotherapy to individuals, couples, and young people. With memberships in the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and the UK Association of Transactional Analysts (UKATA), Emma brings a structured, evidence-based approach to her work.
Emma has extensive experience working with anger and rage, whether with individuals or as part of couples work. She holds a Certificate in Couples Counselling and offers a safe, contained space where you can explore relationship issues together. Her practice also encompasses anxiety, depression, and bereavement support, helping clients navigate loss across personal relationships, careers, and family circumstances.
A particular strength of Emma's work is her affirming approach to neurodivergence. She works with both neurotypical and neurodivergent clients, and holds a Certificate in working with neurodivergent couples. ADHD appears increasingly in her practice, particularly in relation to anger management and couples therapy, and she is part of a monthly peer group of therapists dedicated to discussing ADHD and autism. Emma also offers autism-affirming therapy and ADHD-affirming therapy, alongside family and systemic approaches.
Emma's therapeutic toolkit includes Transactional Analysis, a structured method for understanding communication patterns and relationships. She works with young people and adults, tailoring her approach to each client's needs and circumstances.
Whether you're navigating relationship difficulties, managing emotional challenges, or seeking support during a difficult time, Emma Johnston Counselling provides a compassionate, professional space for meaningful change.
