About Dr Joanne Peterkin
Dr Joanne Peterkin is a psychologist registered with the Health Care Professions Council since 2012 and a member of the British Psychological Society, including its Perinatal Psychology Faculty. She offers a range of evidence-based psychological therapies tailored to individual needs.
Dr Peterkin provides clinical psychological assessment, including a comprehensive written summary report, alongside individual therapy sessions. She regularly uses Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Compassion-Focused Therapy to support clients. Family and systemic therapy is also available, as family-based therapy can effectively support emotional and behavioural difficulties and improve family functioning.
She has particular expertise in antenatal and postnatal mental health, and parent-infant well-being, making her work especially valuable for expectant and new parents. Dr Peterkin also brings specialist experience in working with people who have experienced trauma and loss.
