About Aikido
Aikido is a Japanese martial art that develops both physical skill and mental discipline. At Aikido, classes are offered three times per week, with sessions on Saturdays from 10:30 to 12:25, Tuesdays from 19:00 to 21:00, and Thursdays from 20:30 to 22:00, welcoming practitioners of all levels. The club also runs dedicated classes for young people aged 9 and above, providing an excellent introduction to the discipline for younger students.
Training encompasses both unarmed techniques and traditional weapons work. Students learn to work with the three basic weapons used in aikido: the tanto (knife), jo (wooden staff), and bokken (wooden sword). This comprehensive approach helps develop coordination, balance, and an understanding of aikido's practical applications.
Aikido is affiliated with the Komyokan Aikido Association (KAA), ensuring instruction follows established standards and principles. Whether you're seeking a new fitness practice, a way to build confidence and self-discipline, or simply interested in exploring a traditional martial art, Aikido offers a welcoming environment for adults and young people alike.
